SLARP and Deadlock
Deadlock is in the SLARP catalog as a Steam game. The app recognizes it not by name but by the project8.exe process. It is the third Valve game in the catalog after CS2 and Dota 2. Matchmaking, the lobby and the match run in one process, so SLARP needs no separate setup for the game's modes.
What SLARP does
Routes Deadlock through its own network and optimizes ping and jitter
Picks the route to the server: the node is chosen for you, or you choose a city
If the connection drops, it finds a fallback route
Everything else on your PC runs as usual
What SLARP does not do
Does not change the region or the server in the game — you pick those in the game itself
Does not raise FPS and does not fix stutter caused by load on your PC
Will not help when the game's own servers are down
Works only on Windows 10 and 11: SLARP does not run on a phone or a console
Deadlock servers
Valve publishes the configuration of its Steam Datagram Relay network for Deadlock. In the revision we checked on 6 October 2026 there are no relays in Russia. Of the sites that have them, the closest to the European part of Russia are:2
- Stockholm — Kista and Bromma
- Warsaw
- Vienna (two sites)
- Frankfurt (two sites)
- Amsterdam
These are nodes of Valve's network that carry its games' traffic, not the addresses of Deadlock servers. Where the match servers physically stand cannot be seen from this configuration.
How to see your ping in Deadlock
Since the update of 6 December 2024 Deadlock has telemetry — a panel over the game showing frame rate and network state.3
- Go to the settings, the game options section: Settings → Game
- Find the telemetry block (Telemetry HUD) and tick what to show: frames, ping, network problems.4
- A handy mode is to show the line only when the connection is poor: the panel stays out of the way while all is well and pops up when the network or FPS dips.4
Menu items are named as in the source, in English: localized versions of the game translate them.
If Deadlock stutters
Your hero twitches in a fight
Turn on network and frames in telemetry and look at them at the moment of a stutter. If network problems rise, the cause is the connection: that is where SLARP works — it watches ping, jitter and loss and looks for a fallback route if the connection drops. If the frame rate dips, that is load on your PC, and SLARP will not relieve it.4
Everyone in the match is lagging
Valve describes Deadlock as a game at an early stage of development, and hiccups on the game's servers do happen. If everyone in the match sees the stutter at once, the problem is not your network, and SLARP will not fix it. If only you are stuttering — open telemetry.1
Ping is high even though the network is steady
The Valve relays nearest to the European part of Russia stand in Stockholm, Warsaw and Vienna, so part of the ping is simply distance. SLARP will not shorten it. It picks a route through its own network so that the connection to the server stays steady.2

Anti-cheat and SLARP
Game mode does not inject into the game and does not install an intercept driver on its traffic. We cannot vouch for publishers and their anti-cheat: they decide for themselves what counts as a violation.
If the game complains, take it off acceleration (“Don't accelerate (direct)” in the game's menu) and press “Report a problem”.

Questions about Deadlock
Where do I turn on the ping display in Deadlock?
In the settings, in the Game section: the telemetry options are there. They were added in the update of 6 December 2024, and the panel shows frame rate and network state.
Does Deadlock have servers in Russia?
Valve publishes the list of its network's sites for Deadlock. As of 6 October 2026 there are no relays in Russia on it; the nearest to the European part of Russia stand in Stockholm, Warsaw, Vienna and Frankfurt. Where the match servers themselves run cannot be told from the list.
Which anti-cheat does Deadlock use?
On the Deadlock Steam page Valve lists no anti-cheat, so we do not name one either. In any case, SLARP does not inject into the game and does not change its files.
Deadlock hasn't released yet — does SLARP work with it?
Yes. No release date is announced on the Steam page, but people are already playing, and the game is in the SLARP catalog: the app recognizes it by the project8.exe process.
Do I need a card for the trial?
No. The 72 hours are given once per account, with no payment and no card.
