SLARP and Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2042, bf 2042 for short, is in the SLARP catalog as a Steam game: the app recognizes it by the BF2042.exe process. Battlefield 6 sits next to it in the catalog with its own process, so switching between the two needs no setup in SLARP. The game picks the match server; SLARP carries traffic to it.

What SLARP does

  • Routes Battlefield 2042 through its own network and optimizes ping and jitter

  • Picks the route to the server: the node is chosen for you, or you choose a city

  • If the connection drops, it finds a fallback route

  • Everything else on your PC runs as usual

What SLARP does not do

  • Does not change the region or the server in the game — you pick those in the game itself

  • Does not raise FPS and does not fix stutter caused by load on your PC

  • Will not help when the game's own servers are down — check the status2

  • Works only on Windows 10 and 11: SLARP does not run on a phone or a console

  • Does not lift EA's requirements: the game needs an EA account and the EA app regardless of SLARP

If Battlefield 2042 stutters

An outage at EA or at your end

Battlefield 2042 has its own line on the EA status page. If it shows an outage, SLARP will not help: it works on the route to the server, not on the server itself, and all you can do is wait. If EA is fine and the lag is there, look at your own network: Wi-Fi, background downloads, your ISP's route.2

Ping jumps, hits don't register

Ping spikes on a good plan usually come from Wi-Fi, downloads on the same line or a roundabout ISP route. Compare a cable with Wi-Fi and play without downloads. If the cable is steady, the problem is your home network. If it jumps on a cable too, it is the route to the server: SLARP carries it through its own network and optimizes ping and jitter for the whole match.

The game stutters while ping is steady

A steady ping with a jerky picture points to load on your PC, not the network: the big Battlefield 2042 maps are demanding on the CPU and GPU. Check your frame rate and background programs. SLARP does not raise FPS.

Anti-cheat and SLARP

Since Season 6, in October 2023, Battlefield 2042 has run EA's own anti-cheat: in its announcement EA calls it a kernel-level solution developed in-house and explains that a game of this scale needs kernel-level protection against cheats that operate there. The game's Steam page lists it as EA Javelin Anticheat, together with Denuvo Anti-tamper and a required EA account.3,1

Game mode does not inject into the game and does not install an intercept driver on its traffic. We cannot vouch for publishers and their anti-cheat: they decide for themselves what counts as a violation.

If the game complains, take it off acceleration (“Don't accelerate (direct)” in the game's menu) and press “Report a problem”.

Questions about Battlefield 2042

Which anti-cheat does Battlefield 2042 use?

EA's own kernel-level anti-cheat: the game switched to it with Season 6 in October 2023. The game's Steam page calls it EA Javelin Anticheat.

Does Battlefield 2042 require Secure Boot?

The Battlefield 2042 Steam page lists no Secure Boot requirement: only the EA Javelin anti-cheat. Battlefield 6 has boot protection in the same block, with Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 required. These are EA's requirements for the game and have nothing to do with SLARP.

EA's servers are down — will SLARP help?

No. If the EA status page shows an outage for Battlefield 2042, that is EA's side. SLARP helps with the route to a working server, not with the server itself.

Are Battlefield 2042 and Battlefield 6 the same thing in SLARP?

They are two catalog entries: the app recognizes Battlefield 2042 by the BF2042.exe process and Battlefield 6 by its own. Both are enabled the same way: pick the game in the list and connect.

Do I need a card for the trial?

No. The 72 hours are given once per account, with no payment and no card.
